I know I know I'm a terrible blogger.... and I've mentioned it before, but I will try to improve this time I promise.....
Ok so lots of things have happened, like going to Beirut's and Radiohead's concerts, going to a lot of gigs, discover some new bands and liking others I used to dislike. And also doing a lot of things in dance it was a hard semester because of Performatica an International Dance Festival held by my school every year. Perfromatica is a 2 week intensive in contemporary dance and it's schedule is crazy usually we have classes in the morning, then rehearsals and by night performances. As a student of the Dance faculty I need to take lot's of classes as many as possible and go to all the shows, participate in others and be around to check everything's going well, and offer my help if needed.
After all that caos I found myself in final projects and exams so I was very busy.... but I promise I will post more often from now on.
Relevant stuff that I've found: well, because of my lack of time I've just heard the new cd of the Horrors and I loved it! I found a lot of Joy Division's inspiration mixed with a little bit of The Killers new beats (that's just my personal opinion) though that hard punk and misterious sound of The Horrors is still there and I like how it sounds!
As a little review for Zach Condon's (Beirut) and "The March of the Zapotec/Holland EP", great work as always but if you're not a fan you might need to listen to it more than once to really like it, the first cd is inspired and "recorded" in Oaxaca, Mexico and it has those beautiful trumpets we all love I found interesting that he had renewed the song "The Shrew" which you could find in the famous cd "The Joys of Losing Weight"; for "Holland EP" the sound is like the cd mentioned before totally different from his most known works but beautiful; the best songs in my humble opinion; "La Llorona", "The Akara" (March of the Zapotec) & "Venice" (one of my favs forever), "My Night With the Prostitute of Marseilles" (Holland EP) . Buy the cd it's worth it!
Another band, Endless Hallway very well know from myspace, I loved their music since I was like 17 years old and finally they got a record deal and have their album made, it just came out this month and it's called "Autonomy Games". Love Ryan's voice, I recommend you look out for the old track "Eels and Coldbaths" (that's one of my fav songs ever).
And from Mexico I'm quite obsessed over 2 bands one is Another Phone their music inspires me a lot to create new coreographic work, they're very conceptual but nice, somehow they manage to create this whole new atmosphere where I love to live and dream, big big big congratulations to them for creating that type of art and for sharing it with the world! The second one is Polet they're more pop like bubblicious pink, but their lyrics are powerful but tender at the same time, so as the voice of the lead singer who happens to be a girl :D Unique sound for both bands and of course my best wishes! If you have the chance to see them live, go do it!
Well, that was something for now .. more comming soon I swear!!!
Love to you all!
